Mekong Environmental Resilience Week

13 September:

• The Mekong Thought Leadership and Think Tanks Network program (MTT) and Sustainable Mekong Research Network (SUMERNET) will co-organize the “Mekong Regional Water, Energy and Climate Alliance Forum 2023” on priority needs for knowledge, policy, and partnership focusing on water, energy, and climate change issues in the Mekong Region.

14 September:

• A regional roundtable on “Building Resilience to Climate Change in the Mekong Region” will chart climate policy actions and priorities in Mekong countries toward COP28 in December 2023. The forum aims to unpack the key findings from the Sixth Assessment Report of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) AR6 Synthesis Report 2023 and discuss regional policy priorities with close engagement across the science-policy-civil society-media continuum. The forum agenda goes beyond only climate policies in identifying priority areas across different sectors and to address the climate risks and livelihood concerns of local communities in the Mekong region, often the most affected by and vulnerable to climate impacts.
