This film provides the perspectives of MOWRAM colleagues based in Phnom Penh on their ongoing efforts to improve groundwater management and capacity-building needs.
Cambodia faces many challenges in groundwater management, from a lack of comprehensive regulations and policies on groundwater use to limited technical capacity and expertise among groundwater agencies.
Currently, Cambodia seeks to establish a comprehensive and locally responsive groundwater management framework.
SUMERNET researchers are supporting the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MOWRAM), Cambodia, to understand groundwater assessment tools and techniques better and devise strategies for regulating groundwater use.
This collaboration is being undertaken by the SUMERNET-funded Groundwater Integrated Regional Assessment (GIRA) project implemented by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT).
In June 2023, SUMERNET with GIRA visited Cambodia to meet diverse stakeholders from government authorities to local communities.
This film provides the perspectives of MOWRAM colleagues based in Phnom Penh on their ongoing efforts to improve groundwater management and capacity-building needs.
