Visakone Thammavong supports component 3: engaging policy and communications for influence as a SUMERNET PLUS Fellow from Laos.
He is a Lao communications and storytelling professional with experience across Laos, Japan, and Australia. He studied Writing and Literature at Deakin University and has a background in Information Systems Engineering from Osaka Sangyo University. He previously worked with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on awareness raising and communications projects related to land use and agriculture in Laos. He is an alumnus of the Australia Awards and MEXT scholarship programs.
Through communications and media, he is passionate about storytelling that engages decision-makers, local communities, and the wider public. He is particularly driven to use his work to support meaningful causes, drawing on his cross-cultural experiences to shape his writing and communication style.
The renewed partnership between SEI and the Mekong Institute on research and policy engagement aims to further strengthen transboundary cooperation in the Mekong Region.
