Nittayapond Nipatsant is a development practitioner with a master’s degree in Geosocial-Based Sustainable Development from Maejo University, Thailand. She is a fellow of the Mekong Thought Leadership and Think Tanks Network. She works closely with her mentor, Sushmita Mandal, and the host organization, the Stockholm Environment Institute, Asia (SEI). Through the fellowship, Nittayapond supports Component 3 on Policy Engagement, bridging the gap between scientific evidence and policy-making processes. Her research interests include policy engagement, community-based natural resource management, and local food systems, with a strong focus on inclusive and sustainable development.
This article highlights how researchers can step out of the ivory tower and become "change agents" by transforming raw scientific data into powerful, life-changing policies for the Mekong Region.
