Vietnam’s Mekong Delta provides an abundance of rice, vegetables and fruits making it vital for food security and local livelihoods in Vietnam and beyond. The Delta is facing sea-level rise, saltwater intrusion, and extreme weather due to the changing climate. To explore solutions to address the many urgent climate challenges facing the Delta, a high-level dialogue brought together government agencies, researchers, media, civil society and international organizations in Ho Chi Minh City on March 13, 2025. The conference also emphasized intersectionality and inclusiveness, ensuring that the voices of women, youth, and people with disabilities were included in climate policies.
The event was co-hosted by the Mekong Thought Leadership and Think Tanks Network Program (MTT) and the Southern Institute of Water Resources Research (SIWRR) - a national research institute in Vietnam. The conference received the generous support of DFAT, Australia.
